San Roque Cathedral - Ministry of Altar Servers at A. Mabini St., Caloocan City, Metro Manila, Philippines, caloocan, National Capital Region 1400 PH - Implementing Rules and Guidelines

Implementing Rules and Guidelines

ATTENTION:                    SENIOR MEMBERS

Stated below are the implementing guidelines and rules effective immediately:

Policy on Attendance

1. Attendance to meetings, services, and other liturgical activities is required to all members and officers.

2. Any member who shall be absent consecutively without any prior notice to the secretary or to any other officers shall be given a corresponding and due disciplinary actions. To wit:

                        a. for 2 weeks of absence           -           WARNING

                        b. for 3 weeks of absence           -           SUSPENSION

                        c. for 5 weeks of absence           -           merits the status of “INACTIVE MEMBER”

3. An absentee must present an excuse letter prepared and signed by the parent or guardian specifying the reason and length of time of absence. This should be addressed to the Coordinator through the Secretary.

* The “one month probation”, beginning Feb. 9, shall be imposed. An absence during this period will disqualify a member from service the following week.

* Punctuality will be observed at all times. Latecomers, defined as coming 15 minutes after the meeting has started, will be given least priority in scheduling.

Rules on Service

1. Absence (at least once a week) to assigned schedule of service would warrant the following:

            a. First instance – Letter from Parent/Guardian stating reason/s for absence

            b. Second instance – Parent’s Conference

            c. Third instance – Suspension of 2 weeks

2. We shall strictly follow the “Guidelines for Proper Serving,” which was earlier constructed:

ü  Make sure to come 30 minutes before your assigned schedule to serve.

ü  Dress up 15 minutes/20 minutes before the Mass starts.

ü  Prepare the needed vessels:

Þ                  Place one big host on the chalice.

Þ                  Assure that there are candles in each of the torches.

Þ                  Don’t forget to bring down the offerings such as ciborium and wine.

Þ                  As much as possible, the basin is empty.

Þ                  For special occasions (like concelebrated mass, high mass), or the bishop himself will officiate the mass, check if the books (Sacramentary), missal, missalette, and other auxiliary materials like microphones are available.

ü  Observe discipline at all times, most especially when the Mass has already begun. Avoid talking or any unnecessary gestures that may cause any distractions to the priest, and the crowd.

ü  After the Mass, make sure that the vessels and other materials are returned to their proper places, or to the person whom you borrowed from.

  • Everyone is REQUIRED to wear our PRESCRIBED uniform during meetings (polo shirt w/ logo, black pants, black leather shoes) and other liturgical services (white polo during Sundays).
  • Observe PUNCTUALITY and DISCIPLINE when attending meetings and other liturgical activities.

For your reference and strict compliance.

Bro. Ronard Tan, Treasurer                                Bro. Kenneth Viray, Chair-Liturgy Committee

Bro. John Patrick dela Cruz, Coordinator            Bro. John Philip Ignacio, Secretary and

Disciplinary Officer
